About Andy Hunt

Why did I have hair transpants?

A little about me.....

I was around 18 when I first noticed losing my hair although even some of my school photos showed signs of recession.

Hairloss is hereditary in our family - my Grandad lost most of his hair, my father the same and both my brothers (35 and 20) have high foreheads or starting to lose their hair.
Although I was happy with my life, I always hated the fact that I had very thin, balding hair. In my 20's I ended up cutting it very short and then bleaching it white-blond. It's amazing how that covers up the fact that I had very little hair on top.

A few years ago, David Beckham shaved his head and started a trend. It was then I started clippering my hair a number 1 all over...thank you David!!
The beginning of this year (2004) I met Paul, my partner who is 6 years younger than me who realistically made me want to have my hair back to look a bit younger - although many people say that bald men are attractive and more virile, they still look years older than they actually are...that's unfortunately a fact of life.

I started looking into the hair transplants and what was available on the market many years ago. Unfortunately, there was a lot of bad hype about with some very well known celebrities having "doll's hair" implants and many other horror stories. Suffice to say, I decided not to pursue that idea but always kept an eye on the market.

As part of my "keeping an eye on the market" I came across a few different methods available that certainly seemed like the hair transplant market had advanced drastically and also many satisfied customers posing great results. I started looking seriously about having it done.

I decided firstly on Armani who were based in Canada. They were offering the FUE method at around £8000. In this was a 2 day stay in Canada and promises of some fantastic results. I almost (and I mean almost) signed up until I came across the NHI Clinic's website by chance.
I'd researched the new "Choi Implanter" method before but to be honest, never thought it would take off due to the amount of staff needed to perform the operation and the time it takes to transplant up to 6000 hairs in one session.

After many emails and phone calls to Malcolm from NHI Clinics who had cracked the staff and time problems associated with the Choi method, I was 100% convinced that this was the company I wanted to go with and paid my deposit within a couple of days.

A couple of the factors that made me go with the NHI Clinic were:

  • 100% money back guarantee if it didn't work
  • ONE session to get the results of multiple sessions with FUE and FUSS
  • Talking to ex-patients and Malcolm...incredibly reassuring
  • The cost - almost £3000 less than Armani
  • The location - Athens is much closer than Canada and a beautiful city to go and visit

It was an incredibly difficult decision to have this procedure done and I am sure there are many other guys out there in a similar predicament. Because of this, I decided to journal my whole experience from pre-op all the way up to a full head of hair to let others in on my experience.

During the beginning of 2005, I decided to book in for a second procedure. This was out of pure vanity as the results from my first procedure would have made anyone happy.
What I wanted was my hairline lowered more and the top thickened up to keep up with today's "messy" styles.

So where am I now? The end of September was amazing for me and after many meetings I decided to come on board with the NHI, firstly as Marketing Director.

I truly believe we are the best clinic to offer Choi Worldwide. I have my dream hair, my dream job and realistically the perfect life :)

Well that's about it for now, there's loads more I could tell you about myself but really don't want to make this sound like a personals ad!

Enjoy this site and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.

Thanks

Andy
